Prarambhi Vinanti Karu Ganapati

This one request I make of you, Lord Ganapati
the giver of knowledge as wide as oceans

Adnyanatva haroni buddhi mati dey,
aaradhya moreshwara
that I lose my ignorance,
gain knowledge and ignorance
my favourite god Moreshwara
Chinta Klesha dookha daridra avaghe
deshantara pathavi

Worry, anger and adversity all
can lead one to exile (spiritually)
Herambha, Gananayaka Gajamookha,
bhakta bahu toshavi

Oh the lord with five heads,
 leader of multitudes, elephant faced,
you save this devotee from these negatives
Moraya moraya mi baal tanhe,
tuzicha seva karu kay jaane

Oh victorious lord, I am your child,
I only wish to serve you
and know nothing else
Anyaay majhe kotyanakoti,
Moreshwara ba tu ghaal poti


 
My sins run in crores
Moreshwara, I request you to absolve them
Netri don heerey prakash pasarey

With the diamond of your eyes,
spread your luminosity,
through the beautiful eyes
Maatha shendoor pazarey,
vari barey durvankurachey toorey

The vermilion oozes from your forehead,
adorned above is the crown of durva sprays

(shendoor=lead oxide vermilion, used in rituals
durva=grass with medicinal value,
used in rituals for Ganapati)
Mazey chitta virey manoratha purey,
dekhoni chinta harey


 
My soul is lost, my desires are fulfilled,
my worries dissolve whenever I see your face
Gosavisoot Vasudeva Kavi rey
tya moraya la smarey
