Magha Pournima is a goddess full moon like so many other full moons. Magha month is a month of Lord Vishnu's worship. One of Vishnu's incarnations was Parshurama, son of Goddess Renuka and wife of Jamadgni. Goddess Renuka's pornima is celebrated as Yellamma's Pournima in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The day is called Bharat Hunnve or Bharat Hunnime. Yellama's pornima is sometimes celebrated by offering her food, rustic food and chanting mantras in her remembrance. One could hear the story of her chastity and pray to her form. There is a fair in her honour in the village of Saundatti, Karnataka.
Magha Pournima is the last day for the ritual bathing associated with the month.
